Thermostatic mixers & valves

This page contains helpful tips and answers to frequently asked questions about hansgrohe thermostatic mixers and valves. Select the question that you need below to view the answer.

The handle on the thermostatic mixer is difficult to use. How can I solve this problem?

Stiffness could be caused by a number of things, for example deposits on the sealing surfaces. Please replace the component in accordance with its installation manual. You can find more information in our electronic spare parts catalogue.

The button on the thermostatic mixer is jamming. The safety lock cannot be taken off. How can I remedy this?

It's likely that the button merely has a build-up of limescale or the spring is defective. Clean the spring and button and lightly lubricate them. If necessary, the components will need to be replaced. You can find the spare parts numbers in the installation manual or in the online spare parts catalogue.

The Select push button on the ShowerSelect or ShowerTablet is not working. What can I do?

When installing the tap, the green safety clamp was not removed from the valve. Dismantle the visible components and remove the clamp. The seal between the button and wall flange may not have been lubricated. Lightly lubricate the seal using silicone grease.

Can I adjust the flow rate of products in ShowerSelect range?

The flow rate cannot be adjusted for ShowerSelect thermostatic mixers because our empirical data shows that around 80 % of users do not need to control the volume of the flow. Volume control is required for hand showers in particular. In most hansgrohe hand showers, you can choose between a soft or a hard spray. A large number of EcoSmart hand showers are available as a water-saving solution. With hansgrohe overhead showers, the focus is on indulgent showering: The large rain showers are designed with their performance in mind. You can choose from a comprehensive range here. Our existing thermostatic mixers with standard technology still offer volume control.

The replacement handle for my concealed thermostatic mixer is missing the mounting screw. How can I correctly install the handle?

Thermostatic mixer handles have been snap-on since 2012. The mounting screw is no longer necessary. Snap-on handles are simply clipped on and can be removed with a powerful tug whenever required. If you have a thermostatic mixer made before 2012, it’s not a problem: The screw-less handle is still compatible with these models.

Sealing: Do I need to seal wall penetrations and joints?

Defective joint sealing or the lack of seals on installation access holes can cause significant damage to the structural shell due to the penetration of water. Joints on concealed taps and on pipe penetrations must be properly sealed and permanently elastic in accordance with DIN 18195/Part 5 (Water-proofing against non-pressing water on floors and in wet areas; design and execution), e.g. using sealing cuffs and suitable sanitary silicone. Sanitary silicone must also be applied to screw holes to protect them against moisture penetration. You will find more information about this in the installation manual included with the product.
